NORCROSS, GA. - Madison School of Healthcare at Ashworth College has found a new partner in Northern Hospital of Surry County, Mount Airy, N.C. Northern Hospital is an independently operated award-winning facility with a number of outpatient service locations including Northern Medical Group, the hospital’s network of 11 primary care and specialty provider clinics.
“Online education opens a world of new opportunities in locations like Mount Airy where there may not be many local options for specialization in the healthcare field,” said Robyn Porterfield, healthcare partnership manager for Madison School of Healthcare. “Northern is a growing healthcare provider that serves a large segment of rural North Carolina and southern Virginia. The leadership there is ambitious about helping nurses and administrators develop successful careers serving their community. It’s an honor that Madison School of Healthcare can help them do that.”
Through the partnership, employees of Northern Hospital and its network of physician practices will be eligible for tuition discounts at Madison School of Healthcare and its parent school Ashworth College, as well as tuition reimbursements from the hospital itself. Becky Jefferson, director of human resources at Northern Hospital, said, “We already have a handful of nurses who are enrolled in the Madison School of Healthcare RN-BSN program. After getting to know Robyn [Porterfield], we realized this would be a great partnership for encouraging education among our entire staff.”
Hospital employees who are interested in learning about Madison School of Healthcare and Ashworth College are invited to an admissions fair that will be held in the Northern Hospital cafeteria from 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm on Thursday, February 28, 2019. Healthcare school advisors and current students employed by Northern will be available to discuss the school’s programs and answer questions. Cupcakes will be served.
